Hankou Canal is the most important water conservancy facility in the Hunei and Jiading region. It was built by the ancestor Lin Jhih-cin over two centuries ago, a project which took 23 years to complete. After continuous expansion by his successors, the canal is now a checker board-like network of escape canals over 10,000m in length. The source of water comes from the Erren River.
The district office has erected railings along the Hankou Canal to enhance the atmosphere of recreation; there are willow trees along both sides of the canal and thriving flora, making it an ideal location for strolling and exercising by residents.
